CONAN: The ice giants daughter and other stories (cover redo)

Sooo, I thought I would do something in the realm of the comic book industry, and I had one of my friends new conan graphic novel. the cover was terrible and boring, so I decided to redo it. I procrastinated and ended up doing the whole thing in 2 days, and didn't even get it printed in time for the critique. lame Will, laaame. C&C please.

This is sweet!

If this is a wraparound cover it might be a little weird to have Conan's sword be on the back cover and Conan on the front cover - but the composition is nice the way it is, and I don't know how you could do it differently and still lead the eye through the entire composition.

One shape that you could really push with a different value is the cape - it's in the same value range as the bad dudes. It might be worth trying to throw some dark shadows in there.

I'm just nit-picking, though. This is really cool - much better than the actual cover!

This came out really nice. I think the unsaturated colors work very nice, and it's super intense for sure. If you think you need to bring more attention to conan then I agree with what jeff said about messing with the cape a little or just pulling out a little more color in it. This is probably one of the most successful pieces from last semester I'd say. Did Sterling go for it?

Very intense action. This is great!

I agree about maybe putting more focus on conan, as the shading/coloring/detail is even throughout the picture. Perhaps superimposing some textures.

Intense indeed. I felt like gasping. All the pointy bits leading right to him... I love it as a single piece, but I'm not so sure how it would look folded in half. I'd have to see it. It might be fine. The only thing that seemed to leave me hanging was the flat background. Love the streaming cloak, the various weaponry.. the thing holding the mace/club thing... it's just fucking rad.
